Brand design for POMODORO tomato sauce for Mammafiore, a young and dynamic company that is a benchmark in the distribution of Italian gastronomy products in Spain, France, England and Germany. They collaborate and advise in the management of restaurants, catering businesses, shops, distributors and large supermarkets
A tin of Italian tomato sauce is more than a product, it is a tribute, a homage to the most famous cuisine in the world. It is a delight for food lovers. It evokes a wonderful pasta dish, a trattoria or a traditional grocery store full of shelves. Something simple, cosy and tasty.
We opted for sobriety and a passion for tradition. We designed a label with a solid typography and a palette that takes us straight to the fruit: ‘il pomodoro’. The golden apple, as the Italians named the first tomatoes to arrive from the Indies.
So we use the colours of the tomato: mainly red and ‘doro’, that cream colour reminiscent of gold. A simple and authentic concept. The family is composed of four types of sauces: La Passata di Pomodoro, Il concentrate di Pomodoro, Il Pomodoro interi pelati or Pomodorini di Colina.
A cheerful graphic that pays homage to the post-war grocery shops and conveys the essence and love of Italian cuisine.
