Wam A Punto De Estallar
The commission for WE ARE MONO, a Barcelona rock band with a visceral and direct sound, led us to design the cover and the inside of their album "A PUNTO DE ESTALLAR ’ ( 2021). From the beginning, we understood that this was not just any album; it was a scream, a contained explosion that had to be reflected visually with the same intensity as its chords and lyrics. The challenge was to translate that raw, vibrant energy into a visual identity that was as impactful as the musical content.

The human skull became our conceptual axis. Its blunt and visceral character, combined with its universal symbolism, perfectly encapsulated the tone of the album: something that borders on the unsettling, the inevitable, but also speaks to the essential, what lies beneath the surface. The skull, with its bony simplicity, was strong enough to become the centre of attention, but we wanted to take it further.
To convey this ‘bursting’ effect, we introduced a graphic element inspired by op-art: black and white lines that create a sense of distortion and movement. These lines not only evoke sound and vibration, but also provide a visual tension that seems on the verge of breaking, a direct reflection of the album's title. The skull, wrapped in this play of distortion, becomes a symbol of collapse and catharsis, resonating with the essence of WE ARE MONO.
The end result is a design that not only accompanies the album, but amplifies it, turning it into a complete experience where visual and sound intertwine to convey a powerful message: ‘We're about to explode, and you're about to hear it’.
